Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State has urged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to “first and foremost”, reconcile himself with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in the state and follow due procedure in returning to the party if he must get the waiver he is seeking for to contest the 2011 presidential elections.
Speaking with State House correspondents yesterday in Abuja, the governor insisted that the former number two man “is not yet re-admitted into the party in our state”.
Nyako noted that the former Vice President is having difficult returning to the party in the state because he fought virtually everybody prior to dumping the party on the road to the 2007 presidential election.
He, therefore, advised him to reconcile himself with stakeholders in the state as well as follow laid down procedures if he must secure the waiver, reminding him that he can only get the waiver from the national secretariat after the state chapter must have re-absolve him.
Nyako posited that it was not just enough for Atiku to go to the national headquarters and announce his return, insisting that he must follow the normal procedures.
“Once he clears the situation, he will be readmitted”.
