INDEPENDENT Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has quizzed 22 members of the Plateau State House of Assembly in connection with N880 million constituency project funds for 2007 and 2008 allegedly distributed by the state legislators.

It was gathered that the commission has been inviting the legislators in batches for questioning since last week. The last batch of eight was attended to yesterday.

They were said to have been questioned by the commission’s investigators over allegations that they did not utilise their constituency funds as expected. In 2007, each of them was alleged to have received N20 million, just as they were alleged to have also received N20 million each in 2008.

The ICPC operatives, it was gathered, are looking into three areas: how the contracts were awarded, the alleged inflation of the contracts and whether or not they actually executed the contracts.

After this first round of interrogation, an ICPC source said, the investigators will move to Plateau State to physically inspect the contracts. When contacted, Mr. Folu Olamiti, ICPC’s Resident Consultant on Media, confirmed the development.
