Fresh opposition emerged, on Tuesday, against the presidential bid of General Babangida, as Mohammed, son of late legal luminary, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, urged Nigerians to disown the former president.

gani2In an open letter, dated September 21, 2010, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Lagos, Mohammed recalled perceived sins of IBB and urged Nigerians to be wary of the antics of greedy politicians now acting as his foot soldiers.

Acting in his capacity as the Head of Gani Fawehinmi Chambers, Mohammed alleged that it was incomprehensible that Babangida could be seeking to lead the country after he alleged ruined the economy and unleashed untold hardship on the citizenry.

“It is our advice to the public from Gani Fawehinmi chambers that the option to stop General Babangida rests squarely with the voters and their ability to ensure that their vote is not tampered with or used to rig by any greedy politicians associated with this dictator,” Mohammed said.

Restating his confidence in the wisdom of Nigerians to make the right choice at the appropriate time, the legal practitioner alleged that Babangida could not exonerate himself from the controversial circumstances surrounding the demise of three eminent citizens, including his father.

He listed the other two as late business mogul and winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election which was annulled by IBB, Chief MKO Abiola and the renowned journalist, Mr Dele Giwa.
