Ribadu, who stated this when he paid a visit to the headquarters of Media Trust in Abuja yesterday, described IBB, Buhari and other older aspirants as belonging to the old order which should give way to younger generation of Nigerians with the experience and capacity to inject new and modern ideas in the process of governance.
“I am the best. Bring Babangida, Atiku, and the others, and compare us...I am a modern Nigerian, they are not...it’s about generational change; it’s about a generation of Nigerians who are asking that they be given a chance to contribute their quota,” he said.
The former EFCC boss dismissed insinuations that he is working for President Jonathan, saying he has disagreed fundamentally with the PDP, and could not have accepted to further the interest of the party which has not been fair to Nigerians.
Ribadu recalled that the older aspirants led the country in their prime, therefore they should support the generation behind them so that the system continues. He said though he had tremendous respect for General Buhari, he is of the view that his time is over in the new order. He said he would visit Buhari to inform him of his ambition to contest the presidency.
Ribadu said he remained proud of the EFCC which he was given the opportunity to establish with the aim of fighting corruption, something which would be among his priorities if he is elected.
The former EFCC boss said he decided to run for president on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) because it is the only political party outside the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that has life and semblance of national spread.
He described Buhari’s Congress for Progressive Change as a party that lacked national spread and unlikely to make any impact ahead of next year’s presidential elections.
When asked what he had to offer that is different from what other presidential aspirants are promising, Ribadu said he would tell Nigerians that they should count on his tested integrity and honesty.
“I will stop fraud stars. I will certainly bring stability in the system; I will control corruption; I will certainly stop the culture of consumption, we must start producing; I will bring you good name and image; I will make the world to respect us; I will work towards getting jobs for young men and women in the country,” he said.
