The Action Congress of Nigeria presidential candidate, Nuhu Ribadu’s ambition has received a boost from former military president, retired General Ibrahim Babangida who endorsed him and his running mate, Alhaji Fola Adeola ahead of the April polls.

Speaking in Minna yesterday when the campaign train of Mallam Ribadu paid him a courtesy visit, Babangida said they were the winning team Nigeria needs to turn its fortunes around.

“I endorse generational change which Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu and Alhaji Fola Adeola stand for. I have strong faith in them and I believe they can deliver the goods. They are the pair that the country needs to turn her fortune around,” he said.

Babangida, speaking to journalists after having lunch with the campaign train, said it was time for the country to face the reality of having the younger generation at the helm of affairs, adding that the older generation should quit the stage.

“Someone asked me who my candidate is and I analyzed the situation, the fact is that the country needs people of your age to take over the leadership of the country. I believe we have to allow generational change, which the ACN candidates represent. I endorse generational change because the future is for the youths and we have to support them. That is why I endorse and support Alhaji Ribadu and Alhaji Fola. We have faith in them and we have hope in them,” he said.

Ribadu, who led his campaign train from the Minna international airport left straight in company of his running mate, Alhaji Fola Adeola, the national chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, and other chieftains of the party first to the palace of the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Faruk Bahago, before going to the residence of the retired General.  At the Polo ground, venue of the rally, Ribadu addressing party supporters, said the party was set to correct the misrule of the PDP, adding that their broom would sweep away all those who had helped in retarding the development pace of the country.
