Declare your assets now, ANPP tells Jonathan

The All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), has challenged President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately declare his assets in accordance with the letters and spirit of the Nigerian Constitution.  National publicity secretary of the party, Emma Eneukwu, said yesterday in Abuja that the party is concerned if Jonathan has declared his assets as a way of leading other political office holders by example.

“It is our view that this is a very important observance which would help demonstrate that he sincerely believes in the rule of law and the preservation of due process. Our party is of the opinion that even though Mr. President is not obliged to publicly declare his assets, yet by virtue of his esteemed office he carries a moral burden to inform Nigerians that he has done so as proof of his commitment to leadership by example.
