PDP ignores court order, Jonathan's man wins Bayelsa Primaries

Despite a Federal High Court order against it, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) conducted primary election for the Bayelsa state gubernatorial election.

Mr. Seriake Dickson, a candidate favoured by President Goodluck Jonathan was declared winner having easily polled the highest number of votes by the Chairman of the electoral committee, Navy Capt Caleb Olubolade, a former military administrator of Bayelsa State.

In his acceptance speech Seriake Dickson thanked all the delegates and his rivals especially Chief Francis Doukpola, Youpele Kalango and Fred Ekiyegha promising to run an all inclusive government when voted into power come February 2012.

Governor Timipre  Sylva, his deputy and members of the state House of Assembly boycotted the election. Some of politicians loyal to Mr. Sylva also walked out from the venue.

Justice Kolawale of the Federal High Court in Abuja had granted an injunction to stop the election but the PDP leadership vowed to go on with it.
