Oyo State NYSC Directorate, Please Pay Us

Share

Sir,

Permit me to use this medium to express my dissatisfaction on the non payment of over 40% Federal Government June Allowance of Corp members serving in Ibadan Oyo state. Not only that some were denied, other were also unable to make transaction via withdrawal in their accounts. The accounts were said to be frozen by the Oyo State NYSC directorate.

nyscSir, it is quite sad that this problem started with lateness in payment of allowance to the general populace as dated back as two months ago as Corp members now receive their monthly allowance two weeks after the end of the amount against the initial 22nd and 24th of the due month. When contacted the representative of the Accountant promised to rectify the problem as soon as the Batch B 2011 orientation course ends on the 26th of July as he claimed that those whose money were not paid were tentative suspects to have collected double payment of allowance during the INEC April poll. While I term this as a flimsy excuse as most victims of the ugly menace including myself were paid the exact money meant for the exercise.

This situation calls for urgent attention as the mistakes of the Directorate overpaying some Corp members during the April general poll must be address appropriately and accordingly and not via a witch-hunting manner in which they claimed to be suspecting peoples account and in a bid freeze/denying their allowances.

Sir, why this is imperative lies in the fact that as we awaits the implementation of the new minimum wage, it is quite possible for Oyo State NYSC to repeat the same ugly moment as subject of mockery to deny Corp members of their July allowance. Even on this note, as some states like Borno State have started receiving their July allowance, Oyo State axis will only delay theirs till 1st or 2nd week of August. This recent tradition is not only regressive but also anti-progressive since most corps members are already indebted before the payment.

Thanks for your interest in this case Sir.
