The Yusifiyya Movement popularly known as Boko Haram yesterday said that they attacked the United Nations building in Abuja because the United States and the UN supported the Federal Government of Nigeria in persecuting Muslims all over the country.

One Abu Kakah who spoke on behalf of the spokesperson of the group Abu Zaid while addressing newsmen in Maiduguri via a telephone said they consider the United States, the UN and the Nigerian government as a common enemy and such they would continue to attack them because they are infringing on the right of the Muslims.

Abu Kakah accused the federal government of insincerity in dialoguing with them saying the only condition they can accept to dialogue with the federal government is unconditional release of all their members whom he said are in prisons all over the country.

When asked why they carried out attacks in the month of Ramadan he said those that are condemning them are ignorant of the religion of Islam ,saying it was not in Ramadan that they are forbidden to fight.

The group also claimed responsibility for the failed suicide attack on Borno police command headquarters and the attack on Banks in Gombi in Adamawa state which left more than 16 people dead.

According to him, details on all the suicide bombers will be made known at a later date.

Abu Kakah warned that attack on the city of Kano is imminent if the Kano state government and the Kano emirate council did not stop the persecution of their members in the city.

The group said they are yet to be contacted by the Borno state and federal government or their representatives.

They also said the Sultan is only the leader of Sokoto and not the leader of the Muslims in the country; they also accused him of supporting the federal government’s policy against Islam. (Sunday Trust)
