Nigeria is determined to be poor. The evidence, at least to me, and quite a few others is overwhelming. Elite culture, the politics of the land, citizenship behaviour or lack of it and unjust institutions, orient our endowed land, it seems, towards poverty and the strife that comes with it.

Why Nigeria Underperforms

DECEMBER 2  was a remarkable day in many ways.  It was national day in Dubai, and around the world many waited with bated breath for FIFA to announce those triumphant in the sweepstakes of the would be host of the 2018 and 2022 World Cup finals.

The power challenge

POVERTY was the scourge of all of us. Its consequences; insecurity, instability, low education and the viscous cycle inherent therein; as we count human beings, statistic, but not human capital. Like Truman, Like Jonathan

Now that Vice President Goodluck Jonathan has assumed the presidency albeit in an acting capacity, it is now his responsibility to set the machinery of government moving again because we all are aware that government business almost ground to a halt since President Yar’adua departed the shores of Nigeria in November, 2009.
